The Quiet Garden at Saint George’s Church
The garden around our church offers a place of peace and welcome where people can feel free to escape from the hustle and bustle of the City, reconnect with creation and draw closer to God.
The garden is maintained with help from the residents of Saint George’s Square as part of our community involvement.
We have already drawn people in to make our garden an oasis within urban Worcester, most recently with the planting of Jubilee Trees. Planting plans and seating arrangements are still evolving but our aim is to develop the concept of a “Quiet Garden”.
The Quiet Garden Ministry is a reflective one which looks within, in order to reach out; it fuels faith-based action through contemplation and as such is well suited to Saint George’s which strives to put prayer at the heart of its ministry and outreach. Jesus said “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest’ (Mark 6:31).
The Quiet Garden Movement is a simple ministry of hospitality and prayer. Its primary vision is to provide “local opportunities for prayer, silence, reflection and the appreciation of beauty; for learning about Christian spirituality, and for experiencing creativity and healing in the context of God’s love”.
