Service of First Holy Communion

What a joy and privilege it was to be part of this lovely service yesterday, when these five beautiful children took their first communion. How blessed we are at St George’s to witness the start of their Christian pilgrimage. I pray all of us at St George’s will encourage them and their families as we all learn together what it means to be Kingdom People.

Since 1997 the Church of England has allowed churches to admit children to Communion before Confirmation, Saint George’s Church adopted this option some years ago. and we now have a number of children from the age of 6 who, after a period of about 6 weeks preparation with the clergy, receive the sacraments.  13619853_732985130174008_3768344479391448686_n(1)

Coffee Morning to Raise Awareness of Ovarian Cancer – June 4th 10-11.30am

In the Magdalene Room (to the left of the church)
This is not a fund-raiser, it is to share information from the charity ‘Target Ovarian Cancer’ to help women be more aware of the symptoms, to improve diagnosis of a cancer that is often not recognised until it is too late. Early diagnosis improves outcomes, and women have a better chance of surviving longer.
The talk starts about 11am and if you want to come for coffee but don’t want to listen to the information you are welcome to sit in the lovely Quiet Garden with your tea or coffee.
Provided by St George’s Mothers’ Union. Everyone is welcome. Judy Morris.
